TOURNAMENT RULES RIGA RUDENS 2025

  • Before the first game in each sports hall team captain has to check in with our staff, to ensure that players have the correct uniform numbers as stipulated in the roster submitted to ultie.org and if any corrections were made/are needed.
  • Every team should submit their spirit scores using ultie.org. Any team member can do it.In case you are having problems with the submission, please let the staff know.
  • You must submit your spirit scores before the first match of the ‘next’ day. In case the spirit score is not submitted from the previous day – the team will not be allowed to play until it is done.

The tournament is played in accordance with the latest edition of  WFDF Rules of Ultimate (2025-2028) and EUF Indoor Rules Appendix – version 10.

Full rules, annotations and the Appendix can be found at:

  • Rules – https://rules.wfdf.sport/ and https://urules.org/
  • Indoor Appendix – https://drive.google.com/file/d/15MVHo5BHus16kxT5XtkZaFe9I8s5l9tN/view

In addition, following adjustments has been made:

  • Games are to 11 points
  • ‘Mirror-half’ when one team reaches 6 goals. (no half-time, but teams reverse O/D and sides, opposite to the first point)
  • Soft cap after 25 minutes. A buzzer/horn will sound.
  • ‘Paga-cap applies.
  • Games for the 1st and 3rd place in both divisions are played to 13 points, time cap 35 minutes, mirror half after one team reaches 7 points.

Some key rules from the indoor appendix for your convenience:

1.End of the game and ‘Paga-cap’

  • 1.2.c. Finish the point when the buzzer/horn sounds. If at the end of that point the difference in score of both teams is 3 or less, add 1 to the highest score and play to that new hard cap. Otherwise the game is over.

2.The stall count is to 8.

  • An uncontested breach by the defence – stall maximum 1.
  • An uncontested breach by the offence – stall maximum 7.
  • A contested stall-out comes in on ‘stalling 6’.
  • After all other calls, maximum 5 (contested fouls, picks, etc.)

3.Every team has 1 timeout of 1 minute. It can only be taken after a goal and before the following pull.

4.If a player takes a timeout during play, then play stops and continues with stall + 2. If the resulting number is 8 or 9 – turnover.

5.No timeout can start in the last 5 minutes of the official game time or during the cap.

Pulls, according to the EUF Indoor Rules Appendix – version 10

1.Pull must reach the endzone and pass through any part of a ‘2 meter-high box’

In short:

  • If the pull is too short (touched the floor before passing through any part of a ‘2 meter-high box’) – it may be bricked.
  • Sliding/rolling pulls – landed in the endzone, continued out – start at the perimeter line
  • In any scenario – the receiving team can also decide to stop/catch the disc and start play immediately instead of calling brick even if the pull is invalid.
  • If a brick call by the receiving team is contested by the defence, then the receiving team should bring the disc in play at the centre of the goal line.
  • If a valid pull is contested by the offence, then the receiving team should bring the disc in play at the centre of the goal line.
  • A dropped pull does not result in a turnover as long as it was an attempt at a catch. After a dropped pull the player who dropped the pull should bring the disc into play at the spot where the disc stops.
  • A deliberate mac of the disc instead of trying to catch it, is a turnover.

Reminder: after the pull, if a turnover occurs in your own endzone, you are still allowed to bring the disc up to the goal line (In accordance with the WFDF Rules of Ultimate, rule 13.11)

2.Late arrival to game

  • The game clock will start as soon as the field is free. If one or both teams are not ready to play or aren’t allowed to play do to unsubmitted spirit scores for the previous day, three minute ‘grace-period’ is given. After that, the team(s) will be penalized with one point for every subsequent minute they are late.

3.Tie breakers

  • In case of a tie in a pool play ties will be resolved in accordance with the latest version of the Main Appendix to the Rules of Ultimate. Specifically – subsection B3.
